A few thoughts on Sunday August 12th 2007...

This weekend sure seemed like Memorial Day to me. Yesterday I visited with my uncle -- Curt Snider -- who was a Vietnam Veteran. Uncle Curt is slowly and painfully dying and has been commuting from his home in south Lansing to the Veterans Administration (VA) hospital in Ann Arbor for his treatments. As our countrymen continue to serve in the Iraq folly, it is good to remember the sacrifices they endure for us.

And today I visited the Vietnam Memorial "Wall" at the VFW home in Onondaga. While there the quiet observances of the visitors was interrupted by an older gentleman (60-ish, I'd guess) singing anti-war refrains rather loudly. Although a few of the other visitors were notably bothered, I simply took it to be his way of lamenting the Vietnam tragedy.
